Imphal, Feb. 27 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today appealed to the Peoples’ Action Committee (PAC) against the brutal killing of Pravish Chanam of Uripok Achom Leikai to call off the 24 hour shut down as the state government is working on with all possible ways to ensure justice into the death of young student (Pravish Chanam) in greater Noida on Sep. 8, 2017.
Singh made the appeal while responding to a call attention motion by opposition Congress MLA K Ranjit of Sugnu constituency in the day’s assembly session.
He informed the House that an Additional Director General of Police from the state was sent to Uttar Pradesh for helping in the investigation of the case. He said the Uttar Pradesh government has been urged to hand over the case to CBI following a cabinet decision.
However on Sep. 20 last year, CBI wrote to a local civil society organisation in Imphal that the case is not suitable for them to probe as the case is under Uttar Pradesh Police which is well trained and well equipped, he added.
Earlier demanding immediate discussion of the case of Pravish Chanam in the ongoing assembly, PAC against the brutal killing of Pravish Chanam has warned the state government of a 24 hours total shutdown from midnight of Feb. 28.
