Dimapur, July 17 (EMN): Just a month after the donors’ consultative meet, District Jail Mokokchung got its facelift after the Churches, NGOs and well wishers together with the department initiated the organic farming and vermi compost and poultry rearing.
The programme ‘Call Home’, a facility for inmates to contact the families and advocates was launched at District Jail Mokokchung by the Director General of Prisons, CD &HG, Rupin Sharma, IPS, in the presence of DC, Sr. SP Mokokchung, Churches, NGOs and well wishers.
Lieut. Col Joy Choudhary, Secretary of Zila Sainik Board and members and Samir Ranjan Bordoloi , Jorhat along with six intern students of college of Social Science Nagaland Dimapur demonstrated on raisedbeds and vermi composting. The programme was sponsored by the District Veterinary Office, Mokokchung in co-ordination with Zila Sainik Welfare Board Mokokchung local chicks rearing has begun.
The department has approved the formation of Prison Reformation Committee comprising of District Administration, Security, Churches, NGOs and District Jail officials under the chairmanship of M.Bendangnukshi Longkumer .
