DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 25: Cathedral Angami Catholic Youth Association (CACYA) celebrated its silver jubilee at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, Kohima, on September 25 with Rev. Fr. Carolus Neisalhou, Parish Priest and Vicar General, as the main celebrant, on the theme “You are the light of the world.”
Rev. Fr. Neisalhou, in his homily, cited on the parable of Lazarus and the rich man to have concern and compassionate towards our brothers and sisters in need. He said one can lose heaven because of one’s pre-occupation with oneself without any concern for those around us who are in need of care and assistance.
Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, while addressing the assembly during the short felicitation programme, said Jubilee is a time to remember with gratitude for the achievements over the last 25 years. Stating that CACYA has grown over the years and now it a big force to reckon with, the Bishp said, “We must also now make difference in the society by being a catalyst for social change.” He also called upon the youth to be an agent of change and transformation.
‘Instead of blaming people and situations around us, let your light shine before others so that they may see the good you do and praise God,’ the Bishop urged.
Miss Vizovono Janet Chaya anchored the programme. The brief history of ACYA was presented by Ms. Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina. The choir from Cathedral Angami Catholic Youth Association and Angami Catholic Women Association enthralled the audience with their melodious voice. Ms. Viketoulie Lawrence Solo, Advisor CACYA, pronounced the vote of thanks.
