Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of C-Edge College organised a faculty development programme (FDP) for all the teaching faculty of the college as well as from other colleges on January 31 on the theme “Enhancing competencies” sponsored by Kiremwati Chair.
The FDP was held in two technical sessions namely professional ethics and interactive session on language usage.
Delivering the keynote address at the first technical session, vice principal of Tetso College Dr. Hewasa Lorin maintained that teaching requires special knowledge and skills. She queried on grading to encourage the weak and challenge the stronger ones. She also stressed on issues faced by the students in the classroom pertaining to correct writing and inability to communicate effectively in their answers.
The first technical session also featured a talk and presentation on professional ethics by Wapanginla Ao, HoD of Management Studies and IQAC coordinator of the College.
The session was based on UGC code of conduct for higher education teachers focusing on two parts namely teachers and responsibility and teachers and students.
The second technical session on language usage was based on interaction and practical exercises. It has two parts namely “introduction to phonetics and mind your language,” which was conducted by the English communicative skills (ECS) team of the college. The first part was conducted by Dr. Chubatola Aier, who delivered on the theoretical introduction to phonetics and evaluation exercise, followed with phonetics practical session by Meyatemsu Longkumer, HoD of English department.
The second technical session also had a practical session on language usages, which was conducted by Daisy Shitio, academic dean and assistant professor of English department.
The programme concluded with the conferring of certificates to the participants.
