C-DAC Kolkata conducts workshop on Health Care Knowledge System

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Kolkata today conducted workshop on Health Care Knowledge System at Hotel Japfu, Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion Head Software Technology Group, C-DAC Kolkata, Soutam Kumar Saha said the Health Care Knowledge system is a software for which can help diagnose the disease and also give suggestion for cure and treatment as well as medicines for any kind of ailment. The system is available through internet while the software Kiosk has already been installed in major hospitals and research centres country and all the North Eastern States including the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Kohima.
He said it is the web-enabled concept map based health care knowledge system provides organized healthcare knowledge toward quick understanding of disease symptoms, diagnose, treatment and prevention.
Thousands of pages of medical/healthcare information have been transformed into about 350 semantic networks/concept maps showing important health objects and its relationships.
He said such cognitive engineering software product is very new of its kind in India for better and faster knowledge dissemination and understanding.
Saha also asserted that people won’t get tired of reading lines of text as found in the web content or e-books with easier navigation among the various complex concept maps.
He also said that though the system, people would meaningfully learn about health care topics such as knowledge about body’s organ systems, vitamins, minerals, cleanliness, and symptoms of health problems or diseases and their prevention, treatment and diets etc.
“It is intended to represent the health knowledge cognitive structures that medical experts have in their minds,” he said adding that the system can be customized or updated and can be run in stand-alone personal computer as well as on web.
