Dimapur, August 8 (EMN): In tune with interim order of the Supreme Court on the conduct of by-election to 10-Northern Angami-1 (ST) Assembly Constituency, the Chief Electoral Officer has on Monday reiterated that the final outcome of the results will be subject to the apex court's final decision on the mater.
It was stated in an official release through DIPR. The result of the by-election was declared on August 3, 2017 wherein former chief minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu was declared the winner.
The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee had earlier filed an Special Leave Petition before the Supreme Court of India against the decision of the Election Commission of India to conduct the by-election although the remaining term of vacant seat was less than a year.
The NPCC had stated that it violates Section 151(A) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
