Burma teakwood worth INR 2 crore seized in Dimapur

Dimapur, Jan. 15 (EMN): Troops of Assam Rifles seized smuggled Burma teakwood worth more than INR 2 crore during mobile vehicle checking near Pherima in Dimapur district on January 11.

A defence release stated that basing on specific input, the troops at the check post stopped nine loaded trucks travelling from Kohima to Dimapur. During the spot check of the vehicles, 3600 cubic feet of Burma teakwood worth more than INR 2 crore was recovered. It added that 19 persons accompanying the trucks were also apprehended.

The recovered teakwood and the apprehended individuals were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, for further investigations, the release added.
