Dimapur, Aug. 12 (EMN): Baptist Theological College in Pfütsero subdivision of Phek district conducted a literary programme on August 10 with the theme “The truth shall set you free” (John 8:32). The institution stated in an update on August 11 that the aim of the event was to ‘promote all round development.’
The institution issued a press release to the media on Monday informing about the programme.
The events of the day included an extempore poetry, story and ‘quotation writing’ and sketching competitions.
Besides, competitions in photography, orchestra, and debating on the topic “Christianity is pragmatic” were a feature of the literary event.
The attraction of the day was biblical cosplay which drew over 100 participants, ‘who brought to life many prominent characters of the Bible,’ the press release stated.
Cosplay or ‘costume play,’ is a performance art in which participants called ‘cosplayers’ wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character.
During the programme, research officer at SRCW, Dr. Meneno Rhakho attended the occasion as the event’s guest speaker.
“Accentuating on the urgency of learning from one’s roots and documenting history and culture, she challenged the college community to take pride in one’s cultural identity and adopt one’s traditional values into the Christian teachings,” the press release stated.
The colourful events of the day were both entertaining and educative, and gave platform to budding talents to hone their creativity, the organisers stated.
