BSF rescues endangered tortoise species
BSF personnel handing over the rescued Asian Forest Tortoise to the Forest department in Kohima on Sunday.

DIMAPUR — Personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) stationed at Chedema camp under Kohima district rescued a rare and endangered Asian Forest Tortoise, weighing about 20 kg, on June 30 from its campus.

An update from the BSF informed that the rescued Asian Forest Tortoise was handed over to the Forest department. It added that the animal was handed over to Thejao Rhutso from Forest department in the presence of Sh. SP Singh, second in-charge of 37 Bn BSF. It added that the noble gesture of BSF was appreciated by the forest department and nature lovers.
