BRTF assures completion of Kohima-Pedi-Peren road by March 2025
DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang met with the Commander of the 15th Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) in Dimapur on Monday to address concerns regarding the incomplete Kohima-Pedi-Peren road project.
According to a press release issued on Monday, Zeliang, who is also the minister in-charge of National Highways, highlighted the concerns raised by the Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) and the Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation (NZPO) over the recent inauguration of the unfinished road by the union defence minister.
“In the course of discussion, the Commander clarified that the inauguration will in no way hinder the ongoing works and that the whole stretch of the road will be completed by March 2025”, stated the press release.
Further, it was also brought to light that the ongoing work is not a new construction project but rather a repair and maintenance undertaking, typically conducted every five years, or in special cases, after four years.
“The deputy chief minister asked the BRTF to set chainage and timeline accordingly so that specific target can be achieved in the set deadline. He also assured state government’s assistance in whatever means possible for any projects undertaken by BRTF so that projects can be completed in stipulated time with quality works on grounds,” it stated.
The Commander reciprocated by assuring that the state government would be kept informed about the project’s progress to facilitate better coordination and understanding, it added.
