Dimapur, Sep 1 (EMN): Director General (DG) of Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Lt. Gen. SK Shrivastava has assured to start construction of the National Highway -29 after the monsoon.
Lt. Gen. SK Shrivastava had made this assurance to the minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Neiba Kronu, who called on him in his office at New Delhi on September 1. Kronu reminded Shrivastava of the road condition and urged him to start the work at the earliest.
National Highway-29, the erstwhile National Highway-150, which connects the districts of Kohima, Zunheboto, Phek, Kiphire and Manipur State, is in deplorable condition. The deteriorating condition of the road prompted the minister approached the DG (BRO).
It may be mentioned that the former DG BRO S Sharma visited Nagaland last year and inspected the road at the request of Kronu. However, despite assurances the road construction work is yet to take off. In this regard, Kronu reminded the new DG (BRO) to start the works at the earliest, while the DG (BRO) assured him to start the works after the monsoon.
