Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, called upon the members of Agricultural Technology Management Authority (ATMA) to be active, sincere and transparent in their approach as extension workers to bring change in the life of farmers in Peren district.

Speaking at the second meeting of the Peren district ATMA governing board on September 9 at KVK office in Jalukie town, Vineet Kumar, who is also the chairman of ATMA governing board, told the members that their focus should be mainly supported with improve production through adoption of viable technology by identifying need base of the farmers.

He advised the line departments not to confine in particular area but to penetrate activities in the entire district even in the far flung areas by not considering the distance and road conditions. He added that everyone deserves equal provisions and rights to avail government policies and schemes, stated an update from ATMA Peren.

“Our farmers are not getting deserving amount out of their hard earn produce due to lack of knowledge on marketing channel. They also should be encouraged to adopt farming based on demand of the neighbouring states and the nation even if it is not locally preferred for cross marketing and to create higher income generation,” Vineet Kumar said.

He also suggested to avail opportunities in the finance sector where different kinds of agricultural loans are available for higher production and input benefit. He described the ATMA governing board as a forum to jointly work together to bring about increase production and supply to uplift the living standard of the farmers.

He further stated that the Agri and allied departments are the most privileged people for availing the opportunity to change the life of farmers.

In an opening speech, Dory Yanthan, ATMA project director and district fishery officer, welcome all the members and congratulated Vineet Kumar for achieving the Governor’s Award.

It was followed with a power point presentation on “Achievement and activities” carried out during 2022 by KL Meena, principle scientist and head KVK, Peren.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. L Babita Devi, CTO (A/Sc) KVK, Peren.
