[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he women wing of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed deep concern that there are reports emanating that, young boys are being armed to provide “security cover” to legislators confined in Souvima following the recent split in the party.
The women wing issued a statement on Friday expressing obedience to the “party principles” and constitution by rallying for the leadership of NPF President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and Chief Minister TR Zeliang.“As mothers, we are also seriously concerned with reports of illegal arms given to young boys who are reportedly entrusted to provide ‘security cover’ to the confined legislators,” the NPF women stated. “If such reports are true, this will have grave ramifications on the society since the mentality of these youths will be immensely affected towards criminality. Therefore, we prayerfully request the leaders of the rebel group to immediately stop such dangerous activities.”
The women appealed to all rank and files of the regional party as well as the legislators to seriously ponder on “one’s own political principles and morality,” and stick with the original leadership. The group has appealed to all the legislators to return to the original fold.
“The central office of the women wing, Naga People’s Front, fervently appeals to all rank and file of the Party as well as the Legislators at this juncture of political turmoil to seriously ponder on one’s own political principles and morality,” the organization stated.
“As political functionaries, we all have to abide by the party principles and Constitution and as such we the Women Wing steadfastly rally behind the leadership of Party President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and Chief Minister TR Zeliang.”
“We as wives, mothers and sisters sincerely appeal to all party workers and Legislators who have parted ways with the mainstream of the Election Commission of India-recognized NPF to come back to the party fold without any further delay.”
As contained in the party’s election manifesto ‘with which we faced the elections,’ the women stated, the NPF party had promised to provide a stable government to the people. Hence, “we must keep our promise as true Christians.
‘With each passing day,” the organization stated, the people are “realizing more and more that those in the rebel camp at Sovima are misleading themselves as well as the people of Nagaland with false claims, untruths and wild allegations. They are doing more harm than good to their own personal integrity and reputation in the eyes of the general public.”
