Kohima, November 24
With barely six days left, Nagaland will be celebrating 50th years of Statehood on December 1 which will coincide with the 10-day Hornbill Festival without solving the problems of road, traffic, water and electricity. Every year the State capital faces heavy traffic jam, as every district of Nagaland and other neighboring states flock here with vehicles.
However, to ease traffic congestion in the state capital Kohima, the department concerned has come up with an innovative idea by constructing the box cutting road near Kohima war cemetery which will soon be opened for commuters.
Observers were hoping that the new box cutting road will bring much relief to the commuter and ease traffic jams tremendously as all the down vehicles coming from Manipur side via Kohima to Dimapur will be diverted to this route.
The State government is trying hard to ease the traffic congestion as the traffic congestion is a major headache on daily basis. It's bad enough that there isn't enough space for road expansion for the ever increasing number of vehicles. Sometime rude and aggressive drivers make a bad situation even worse.
Sub-divisional Officer, PWD (R&B), Er. Wapanginba, who is overseeing the construction work, said the new box cutting road near Mezhür School over bridge will be inaugurated on November 27 by Minister for Roads and Bridges Kuzholuzo (Azo) Neinu.
Azo had recently disclosed that the new box cutting road near the War Cemetery Kohima will ease traffic jams tremendously, as all the down coming vehicles heading towards Dimapur and New Secretariat will be diverted.
