Bootleggers, thieves in police custody

Dimapur, June 26 : Kohima police has registered cases against four persons during the last 48 hours in connection with smuggling of banned liquor and car lifting.

In the first incident, personnel of 37 Assam Rifles, while conducting checking and frisking of vehicles between Lal Mati area and 10th Mile road (Wokha road), intercepted a Maruti Alto bearing registration number AS-03B-4567 and recovered assorted IMFL comprising of 135 nos MC Rum (Plastic bottle), 42 nos of OC Blue (quarter bottle), 29 nos of Foster beer and 28 nos of Kingfisher beer on June 25.

A police report said the seized IMFL along with the driver of the vehicle identified as Phuto Achumi (23), son of Huvikhu, of Lutsumi village under Aghunato police station were handed over to Sechü (Zubza) Police Station.
A regular case under NLTP Act has been registered against him for further investigation.

In similar incident, Kohima police personnel manning Peducha check gate, during routine frisking and checking of vehicles have intercepted one Maruti 800 bearing registration number NL-07-9423 and recovered 20 cases of Mc Rum on June 25 at around 0545 hrs.

The driver of the vehicle identified as Arron Zhimo, son of Vito of Lista village under Akuluto police station in Zunheboto and presently a resident of Khuwaboto Colony was taken into police custody for possession and transportation of the banned IMFL.

A case in this connection has been registered against him for further investigation.

In yet another incident, a dumper truck, which was reported stolen from Secretariat road on June 24 by some unknown miscreants, was later intercepted by the patrolling party of DEF Kohima near NST complex.

Accordingly two persons identified as N Hrüpu Poumai (18), son of Ngaonie Poumai, and N Ningtho Poumai (18), son of Chorou Poumai, both from Zhopumai village in Tadubi sub-division under Senapati district, Manipur, and presently residing at High School Colony, Kohima, were taken into police custody.

A case in this connection has been registered the Kohima North Police Station against them for conducting further investigation.
