IMPHAL, July 30
A reward of sorts is on the anvil for the sportsmen and women of Manipur for its outstanding contribution to Indian sports.
The visiting Director General Sports Authority of India,Jiji Thomson on a two day trip to the Imphal has assured the state government of a sea change in the sports infrastructure at the SAI centres in the state.Thomson said the changes will be in place within the next 6 to 9 months.
This could mean more allocation of funds, improving existing infrastructure and more coaches.
DG Thomson also met with the Chief Minister Ibobi Singh, officials of the sports department and SAI regional centre personnel.
Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom also attended the meeting in the SAI indoor hall at Tayelpat in Imphal.
