Dimapur, Feb. 19 (EMN): The Zeme Leisiname Bau Nagaland (Zeme Students’ Union Nagaland) released a booklet on village administration in Zeme dialect with the deputy commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, as the special guest.
An update from the union stated that the booklet was officially released by the DC in presence of the president of Zeme Council Nagaland (ZCN), ADC Jalukie Dr. T Jongshi, president of Nsong Kebai Area Public Organization (NKAPO), Kebai Area Frontal Organisation (KAFO) and village council authorities.
The programme began with an introduction delivered by its president Aakam Pame. He explained how the union endeavoured to translate the Nagaland Village Council Act 1978, government gazettes and notification into Zeme dialect.
ZCN president, Dr. Tumda Newme, also spoke on the purpose of the booklet, its importance and need to know the rights and responsibilities. He lauded the ZLBN for their contribution and hoped that the village authorities would be empowered through the book.
ADC Jalukie, Dr. T Jongshi, who also spoke at the programme, stressed on the need to focus more on development. He has appreciated the union for taking all the hardship to release the booklet in Zeme dialect.
While mentioning that there many books on village administration and Nagaland Village Council Act 1978 in English, he encouraged the union include the latest government gazette and departmental notification to update the village authority in rural areas.
He expressed confidence that the booklet would enlightened village authorities of their duties and function and enable them carry out their responsibilities with transparency and accountability for further development.
