Bogus job cards detected in Mokokchung

MOKOKCHUNG— A sum of INR 47,488 was detected against deceased, migrated and bogus job cards during the ‘Social Audit District Level Public Hearing’ under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for Mokokchung district, on Thursday.

The amount recovered pertains to the first phase of the financial year 2023-2024.

A resolution was passed to recover the said amount (INR 47, 488) from four villages and to submit the same to the PO, DRDA, for onward deposit to the SEGF account within seven days.

The audit was conducted by the Nagaland State Social Audit Agency (NSSAA) Social Audit Unit Nagaland at DRDA conference hall, Mokokchung, in the presence of VDBs members, BDOs, village council members, CSOs and DRDA officials.

During the hearing, Assistant Director of NSSAA Social Audit Unit Nagaland, Imlirenla Sanglir, informed that the first phase of the social audit was carried out covering all districts for the schemes implemented during FY 2012-2022 MGNREGS under Rural Development department.

She informed that 11 villages were audited under Tuli Block – Anaki Old, Anaki (C), Anaki Yimsen, Asangma, Molungyimsen, Molungyimsen (B), Merangkong, Kangtsung, Kangtsung Yimsen, Aopenzu and Wamaken.

Sanglir also pointed out the importance of bookkeeping and initiating capacity-building measures to village functionaries and other areas that were lagging behind.

Social audit resource person Temejenwabang Jamir also highlighted the findings of the exercise and reviewed various recommendations during the hearing.

EAC Kobulong, Seyievillie Pfukri, the observer representing the district administration, said all the government schemes are good and that they need proper implementation from the village level. He also urged the implementing agency to follow proper guidelines.

During the hearing, it was resolved that job cards (JC) of deceased, migrated and bogus cards would be deleted and new genuine households would be included. It also resolved to hold Rozgar Diwas regularly.

Further, the DRDA will initiate a refresher course on bookkeeping for the village functionaries.
