Body of missing woman found in Mokokchung, murder case filed

The body of a woman, who was reported missing, was recovered from Mokokchung District Jail area on Thursday, according to Mokokchung Police.

The woman has been identified as Ester Phom, wife of Imtioza Ao, resident of Yimyu ward in Mokokchung, as per a press release from Phom Union Mokokchung and Phomla Hoichem Mokokchung unit.

According to police report, the deceased was reported missing on September 14. In this connection, Police Station II personnel immediately launched a search operation, following which the dead body was recovered from the district jail area in Yimyu ward.

A murder case has been registered at the Women Police Station Mokokchung under Section 302/326/354 IPC.

A special investigation team under Chuba Chang, SDPO Mokokchung, has been constituted to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, Phom Union Mokokchung and Phomla Hoichem Mokokchung unit vehemently condemned the brutal murder, stating that such cruelty to human being came as a shock and ‘the perpetrator(s) has no place in a civilised society’.

They further urged the right-thinking individuals and society to condemn such acts and appealed to the competent authority to expedite the investigation and arrest the culprit at the earliest.
