DIMAPUR — In an exciting development, president of the Nagaland Flower Growers Society (NFGS) has apprised the authorities about a significant milestone for the region’s floriculture sector, garnered through the momentum generated by the Bloom Bazaar.
An update from IDAN stated that the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR NEIST), Jorhat, has reached out to the Society, based on the media reports about the bazaar on social media. It added that CSIR NEIST visited the flower grower’s society in Kohima on October 11 to understand the Bloom Bazaar and the opportunities that are created by the Bloom Bazaar.
It stated that CSIR also invited the flower growers to participate in a comprehensive workshop on awareness, training, and planting materials, which is aimed at exploring various opportunities within the flourishing world of floriculture. During their recent meeting, it added that the CSIR team shared valuable insights with local flower growers and discussed the immense potential of converting flowers into perfumes and transforming waste from cut flowers or decaying plants into nutrient-rich manure.
The CSIR team emphasised that multiple institutes, companies and private stakeholders are actively seeking potential collaborations with the Nagaland Flower Growers’ Society.
IDAN also stated that a Yellow-Chain entrepreneur from the Kiphire district has expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunities presented by Bloom Bazaar.
“Running a stall at the marketplace has inspired him to think boldly and consider ways to elevate his venture,” IDAN said.
It stated that he now envisions replicating this concept in Kiphire district, at a smaller scale, with the belief that it would empower many educated individuals to embrace entrepreneurship. He emphasised the importance of providing a platform that would encourage young educated people to step out of their comfort zones at district levels.
