The Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima (VBDAK) kicked off their five-day blood donation campaign to celebrate one decade of its existence in Kohima on Monday.

The association organised a sticker campaign on the first day on the theme, "donate blood, save a life," in collaboration with Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC), Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) and All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA).

Stickers were distributed among the members of NAC, NMC and ANTA. It was informed that 600 stickers were pasted on vehicles plying in and around the state capital on Monday.

It was learnt that over 1000 stickers have been printed to be distributed in order to create awareness on blood donation.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion during the kick off programme, Dr. Nyan Kikon, advisor of VBDAK, expressed happiness stating that it was encouraging to see many organisations and clubs coming forward to partner with the association in the noble movement.

"I believe that all of you are influencers in your own field, and have a lot of following from the youth and people who have and who can donate blood.

"I believe that donating blood is a noble act," added Nyan, who is also the state nodal officer for Integrated Surveillance Programme.

"Donating one pint of blood may not affect the whole world but donating one pint of blood may mean the whole world to the person who is receiving the blood," he reminded.

Ainato Yeptho, president of (VBDAK), highlighted the activities of the association and blood donation camps and awareness campaigns by collaborating with colleges, Health department and others over the years.

On September 28 and 30, the association will be hosting an awareness campaign on blood donation and also organise a registration drive for voluntary blood donors on social media.

On September29, other awareness programmes will be held at Ciekhan Fitness Gym in Kohima.

The five-day campaign of VBDAK will culminate by observing National Voluntary Blood Donation Day with Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS) and Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL).

On the day, blood donors’ mobile app will also be launched while blood donation camp and registration of voluntary blood donors will also be held.

The events are supported by Assam Rifles, Kohima battalion, Blood Bank, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima, ANTA, NMC and Ciekhan Fitness Gym.
