Block health melas organised in Manipur

Imphal, April 18 (EMN): After the formal inauguration of block-level health mela and telemedicine, the district authorities in Manipur have also started block health mela under the first 100 Days Action Plan of the new government and as a part of the 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The district administration of Chandel, Noney, Tamenglong and Thoubal organised the block health mela in the presence of their respective legislators (Chandel,Tamenglong and Heirok) assembly constituencies on Monday.

It may be noted that chief minister N Biren Singh had inaugurated a block health mela and telemedicine for Imphal West district at public ground in Mayang Imphal, 20 km south of Imphal on April 15.

In Thoubal, the mela was held at Ibudhou Yotningthou Laikol Community Hall, Heirok for Wangjing Tentha block in the presence of Heirok MLA, Dr. Th Radheshyam. Addressing the mela, he urged the people of the area and the district to adopt a healthy lifestyle by avoiding intoxicating food including tobacco items.

On the other hand informing that the district administration will be organising two block health mela in the coming days, Deputy Commissioner Subhas appealed to the public to apply for Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT), a state health scheme to avail the benefits of the health assurance scheme.

Eligible households are given a health card under CMHT to avail cashless treatment at its provided medical cover of up to INR 5 lakh.

In Noney, the mela was organised by the district administration, Noney in collaboration with District Health Society, Noney at Multipurpose Hall, Longmai III.

Chairman Longmai area council, Adai Dangmei; chairman Longmai village authority, Kasaigai Gangmei and chief medical officer, Noney district, Dr. Edwin Golmei attended the function.

Meanwhile in Tamenglong, the health mela was held at Unity Stadium, Tamenglong Baptist church compound on the theme ‘’Strengthen Citizen-Centric Governance’’. It was inaugurated by MLA Janghemlung Panmei and attended by sub-divisional officer (Tamenglong), Rohit Anand and chief medical officer Dr. G Majachunglu.

In his speech, the MLA  requested the villagers to take maximum benefit from this health mela, mentioning that his priority will be given to the health sector and the education sector.

Similar health mela was also held at the Public health centre, Komlathabi in Chandel district in the presence of local MLA, SS Olish.

During the day’s health melas, awareness was provided for different health programmes and prevention of various communicable and non-communicable diseases.

It may be mentioned that the BJP government in Manipur, on March 26 announced 100 action points to be taken up in the first 100 days of the government.
