BJP’s membership drive continues into March

The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) has launched what it called the “six day special BJP membership drive” to run from March 9 till the 11th and again from March 16 to the 18th of March before the ongoing registration of new membership culminates on March 31.
Members of the BJP met on March 3 in the office of the party in Dimapur. The meeting was attended by state frontal and district units of the party for Dimapur. Various units of the party for Dimapur led by general secretary of organization Prashant Arora, social media conveners, members of the state’s BJMM units, BJYM and other party officials deliberated about various issued associated with implementation of the membership activity throughout the state.
This special membership drive has been established “entirely for college and university students and is meant to supplement the main membership drive efforts,” a press release from the party stated on Friday.
The state’s BJMM and BJYM units have been entrusted with the task of registering the students accordingly in every educational institutions in every districts and towns with the assistance of the district and mandal BJMM and BJYM members, the party stated.
“However, no tours programmes shall be scheduled in this matter but every party frontal workers are directed to engage in this drive locally in their respective places of stay, wherever there are higher educational institutions.”
The district and mandal BJMM and BJYM units are to ‘consult, coordinate and cooperate’ with their respective frontal state presidents and ensure its success, the BJP stated. “To enable the smooth functioning of the programme, the district BJMM and BJYM are directed to conduct meetings with the district party workers between the 5th and 8th March, 2015 in the presence of the district membership drive and social media conveners positively,” the press release stated.
According to the party, the nationwide registration drive into the BJP has “crossed the 6 crores mark and it is still increasing day by day,” if the party’s claim is to be believed. “Nagaland with its set target of 50,000 has also been enhanced to 75,000 due to encouraging membership registration by the public in every district,” the press release stated.
The national convener of the membership drive, Dr. Dinesh Sharma has appealed to all the party’s leaders and workers in every state, district, ‘mandal’ and local unit, to “reach out to the people and enroll.”
He has requested that every completed membership counterfoil booklets be submitted to the party’s state conveners immediately.
Another highlight of the membership drive the party informed about was that the party’s sitting legislators and former BJP candidates would be issued separate membership enrollment forms. The forms are to be completed and submitted within the stipulated time, the press release stated. A ‘national membership drive meeting has been scheduled mid- March to monitor the ongoing progress.’
The Nagaland state unit of the BJP has appealed to citizens to enroll into the party as members either by dialing 18002662020 with a ‘miss-call’ or by registering through filled forms available with the party workers in all the districts.
