BJP to create awareness on NEP 2020′

Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have announced that it will organise various events and competitions with a target of one lakh participants to create awareness on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The state BJP workers informed this during a press conference conducted on Tuesday in Kohima. It was informed that the events and competitions would be conducted in line with the directives of the party at the national level.

State BJP co-chief spokesperson Nini Cheng informed that the competitions are being organised to create awareness on NEP 2020 as there is a need for wider dissemination of the policy.

She has described the policy as ‘comprehensive and path-breaking’. To respond to the challenges of the world, she stated that one has to change the educational system. According to her, the nation has been following the system, which is now outdated in the technology driven world.

She stated that the NEP 2020 that has replaced the national education policy of 1986 was one of the poll promises of BJP during the 2014 election. She added that efforts for the new policy started in 2015 and subsequently a committee was constituted to draft the policy after two years. While giving more information about the new policy, she stated that the policy has come about taking in the suggestions of more than two lakh gram panchayats.

State BJP Mahila president Phangnon Konyak stated that Nagaland was also invited to participate. She informed that the competitions would be conducted for every school, college, institution, and citizens based on NEP 2020.

She informed that the theme of the competition included Bharat centric education, holistic education, knowledge-base society, and quality education. Giving more inputs about the competitions, she stated that it would be conducted in three categories comprising students from classes 9 to 12, UG and PG and citizens.

For category 1 (class 9 to 12), competitions included two minute speech, handmade poster, letter to prime minister, 300 words essay, and meme making, while the competitions for category II (UG and PG) and category-III (citizens) included short film (not more than 2.20 mins), digital poster making, painting/ handmade poster, minimum 8 tweet thread, and meme making.

The event would be inaugurated on September 11 and the results would be announced latest by October 5.

For quiz (interactive), it would be derived or based on the videos and text module available at the website. Users will be awarded with certificates for attempting or participating in the NEP 2020 quiz, informed Konyak.
There are certain rules and regulations for the competition. Participants have to make sure they registered on www.mynep.in to participate. Participants can submit their entries in respective competitions from September 25 to October 2.

Winners would receive cash prizes of INR 10,000, INR 5,000 and INR 3,000 respectively. A special mention of 10 participants would also win a cash of INR 1000 along with the participation certificate.

State BJP secretary, Lanuakum O, informed that Nagaland BJP has set a target to rope in 1 lakh participants for the competition. He informed that there are over 3,65,000 registered party workers at all-levels in the state. He stated that all the party workers would be engaged in the upcoming events and competitions.

He also stated that various programmes would be organised during the Sewa Saptah (service week) from September 14 to the 20th which is being organised to commemorate the 70th birthday anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi (September 17).

The programmes would include presentation of artificial limbs and other equipment to 70 differently-able persons in every mandal, presentation of spectacles to 70 poor brothers and sisters as per need, distribution of fruits in 70 hospitals and poor colonies in accordance with the guidelines of Covid-19.

The secretary further informed there would be a plantation of tree saplings in every booth polling station. Nagaland BJP has set a target to plant 10,000 trees. It was informed that the BJP youth wing would organise at least one blood donation camp in every district with 70 blood donors each.

Besides, a cleanliness drive would also be organised in 70 villages of every district and pledge to get rid of single use plastic, he informed.

Nagaland BJP has also planned to organise programmes in commemoration of Deen Dayal Jayanti on September 25 and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
