BJP president JP Nadda to hold election rally in Nagaland

KOHIMA — Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president, JP Nadda, will hold an election campaign rally for People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry, on April 13 at the NE Agri Expo Site, Chümoukedima.

The party chief, who is also the star campaigner in the state of Nagaland, will arrive at Dimapur airport at 12:45 noon to address the rally at 1 pm. Besides, Nadda is scheduled to meet the state chief minister, NDPP top leaders, BJP MLAs and party executives before leaving the state the same evening.

The lone Lok Sabha seat of Nagaland will go into the first phase poll scheduled on April 19 and results to be declared on June 4.

Former MLA, Dr. Murry is the PDA consensus candidate and NDPP ticket holder. He will contest the seat with Congress candidate, S Supongmeren Jamir, and Independent candidate, Hayithung Tungoe Lotha.

Nagaland is currently an opposition-less government with all the 60 MLAs from different political parties extending support to Dr. Murry.

The current Lok Sabha MP from the state is Tokheho Yepthomi of NDPP.

Leaders of BJP Nagaland during an emergency meeting at the private residence of its president in Thahekhu village under Dimapur district on Thursday.

In a run-up to the visit of its national party president, JP Nadda, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland state on Thursday held an emergency meeting at the private residence of state president, Benjamin Yepthomi, to discuss on the necessary protocols and other arrangements.

An update from BJP Nagaland state media department stated that the members have reaffirmed commitment to work cohesively to ensure absolute victory of the PDA consensus candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry, in the upcoming Lok Sabha election slated to be held on April 19.

Other dignitaries who were present at the meeting included Rajya Sabha MP and state vice president, S Phangnon Konyak, and advisor of Prisons, Printing and Stationery and state vice president, Kropol Vitsu.

It added that state office bearers, state spokespersons, state social media team, state media team, IT team, state morcha presidents, Dimapur district office bearers, all 5 mandal presidents under Dimapur district and Dimapur district morcha presidents were also present at the meeting.
