BJP Phek District Unit on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the party head office in Super Market, Dimapur demanding that State BJP president Dr. M Chuba Ao step down from his post immediately and also for re-induction of Kupota Khusoh as BJP Phek Unit president. Numbering around 300, the party workers from all the assembly constituencies of Phek held placards that read ‘M. Chuba murder of democracy,’ ‘we don’t want M Chuba dictatorial leadership,’ ‘M. Chuba don’t undermine BJP workers,’ ‘M. Chuba slaughter of BJP office bearers in Phek district.’
The unit also submitted a memorandum to the Organising Secretary, BJP Nagaland State Unit, later.
The memorandum demanded that Dr. M. Chuba Ao immediately step down from his post for ‘breaching democratic rights of the people and misuse of BJP trust of leadership’ and also on moral ground for impasse committed to the Phek District BJP stalwarts. It said the infamous breach to one of the democratic principles and BJP constitution and rules envisaged was the induction of Eduzu Thuluo as the president of BJP Phek District even after Kupota Khusoh was legally and constitutionally elected on September 8 in the BJP Phek unit meeting.
The Phek unit of the party said dissolution of the the Phek District BJP by state party president without any sane regard to the wisdom and decision of veteran senior party leaders and without introspection or retrospection is regrettable and uncalled for and which simply reflects his incapable leadership nature.
The unit also alleged that the state president has totally failed to execute the obligations entrusted on him by showing poor performance of the BJP in the recent 11AC Northern Angami by-election. He was endowed with party presidentship for more than two consecutive terms but his lack of ingenuity to cater to the party precedence is prima facie proves that he is a maverick politician, the unit said.
“His acquisitiveness is many fronts yet unfulfilled demands of the high commands of the BJP trust cast doubt within many of the party workers,” it maintained.
Pointing out that the disciplinary actions are envisaged in the Article XXV of the BJP constitution, the BJP Phek Unit alleged that Dr. M. Chuba Ao is disloyal to the party constitution and also abuses his power in many fronts. “He is a liability in the articulation of media fraternity publications, party fund misappropriations and confide facts and figures, propagating propagandas, character assassination of self unfavoured persons, suppressing collective decisions etc are his short due credit that need to be addressed,” it further alleged.
While urging the higher authority of the party to address their grievances for the interest and welfare of the BJP party mandate, the Phek unit, giving the facts and circumstances, also questioned as to why disciplinary action could not be taken against the party president, who, it said, should have ‘stepped down on moral ground for his dictatorial activities.’
The unit also urged the party higher authority to restore Kupota Khusoh as the president of BJP Phek District Unit, who, they said was unanimously elected through collective decision at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur on November 8 by the constituency mandals in presence of Vihoshe Sema, general secretary (administration) and R. Sopu, vice president, Phek district incharge as state observer deputed by the adhoch BJP president Dr. M. Chuba. It also demanded the higher authority to revoke the suspension order particularly of Er. Vekha Swuro, national executive member, ST Morcha, during membership drive.
