BJP national president Amit Shah arrives in Imphal

Our Correspondent Imphal, June 30 (EMN): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National president Amit Shah arrived in Imphal on June 30 Saturday to attend the party's group meeting with the party leaders of all the Northeast states excluding Assam. On his arrival at the Imphal International airport, he was accorded a warm welcome by BJP state unit leaders including Chief Minister N Biren Singh, state unit president Kh Bhabananda, former union minister Th Chaoba and others. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb led party leaders were the first team to have the meeting with Amit Shah. The meeting was attended by BJP general secretary, Ram Madhav, and NE Democratic Alliance Convenor, Hemanta Biswas Sharm, and BJP NE in charge, Ajay Jamal. After Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu and Arunachal Pradesh BJP president Tapir Gao led team met the BJP president. Later Mizoram team met the president. In most of the meetings, BJP national president advised the state unit leaders to work hard to win assembly as well as Lok Sabha elections, according to the party sources. BJP Manipur in charge and Lok Sabha MP Prahlad Singh Patel told Eastern Mirror Correspondent that prior to the meetings said that such parliamentary group meetings generally discusses political conditions and preparations for the parliamentary elections. It may be recalled that after attending Booth President Sammelan in Guwahati on March this year Amit Shah had said that BJP is targeting 21 Lok Sabha seats of 25 in North-eastern region in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The party had won eight seats during last Lok Sabha Polls in 2014. Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton led team also arrived to meet the BJP national president.
