1. The Bharatiya Janata Party Nagaland is compelled to issue this communiqué, taking cognisance of Mr. Therie’s frantic statement against the BJP Nagaland State; that are devoid of any truth, while addressing a Congress Party Meeting on the 7th of October 2022.

In his statement, Therie had alleged the BJP as anti-Naga, anti- Christian, anti-faith, and anti- custom in a series of utterances which were completely false, baseless and unfounded. In fact, BJP is one of the largest National Political Party which respects all religions. Moreover, the Constitution of India guarantees equal rights to every citizen of India to practice any religion of their choice and to honour and respect every religion. The BJP Nagaland cannot remain mute spectators when such political fanatic leaders like Mr. Therie habitually blamed BJP for all the mishaps that happen under the sun – in the hope of gaining undue political mileage for his party that is on the verge of extinction.

2. BJP is in no way anti- Naga or Anti- Christian, as alleged by Therie, nor is the party anti Naga custom or Naga ways of life. How can a ruling party at the Centre under Prime Minister Modi be called anti-Nagas? Under whose Prime Ministership did the Naga Political issue gain momentum, unlike the Congress party that had played with the sentiments of the Nagas during their decades long regime? Speaking of anti-Christians, BJP Nagaland would like to apprise the NPCC President that no members of the BJP have any such intention to proliferate our Christian faith with Hinduism, as feared most by Mr. Therie. In fact, members of BJP Nagaland are no less Christians than members from any political parties in the State, and therefore, playing desperate politics on religious lines is very uncalled for.

3. As for the incident in Kharagpur, pertaining to the Naga traditional decorative pieces on Puja pandals: an old video from the year 2020 that went viral on social media in recent days, the BJP would like to remind Mr. Therie that the incident happened in Kharagpur in West Bengal and not in Nagaland, and hence, has nothing to do with the BJP.

4. Bharatiya Janata Party will continue to serve the people to ensure that its welfare programs become accessible to every sections of people in the society, as our ideology is based on development for all: Likewise, we shall continue and aspire to focus more on development sector and shall not be deterred by negative agendas of Mr. Therie.
