The Nagaland State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit while expressing its deep concern also condemns the recent attacks on Churches and Christian Institutions in Delhi. In a meeting held today at its party office in Dimapur, the party appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for coming out unequivocally against the recent attacks and controversial utterances by right- wing fringe elements and that his government will ensure complete freedom of faith and that everyone has the undeniable right to retain or adopt the religion of his or her choice without coercion or undue influence and will not allow any religious group belonging to majority or the minority, to incite hatred against others “overtly or covertly”.
“The party believes in the Constitution of India and to the principles of socialism, secularism and democracy and such attacks on minorities in the name of religion has no place in a Secular country like India,” the BJP, Nagaland unit stated.
The party then appealed to the people of Chang and Yimchunger tribes of Tuensang to resolve the dispute amicable and restore peace and harmony in a true Christian spirit.
Meanwhile, the party also congratulated its counterpart, the Assam BJP for the landslide victory in the recently concluded municipal election.
