BJP Mahila Mandal rebuts CVYO charges
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 10
The BJP Mahila Mandal Committee 11 N/A II A/C has issued a clarification on the news item that appeared in the local dailies wherein the Chiechama Village Youth Organisation (CVYO) had alleged that the wife of the BJP candidate was “caught” distributing money in order to lure the voters of the village. “These allegations are totally baseless and amount to character assassination,” the BJP Mahila Mandal Committee, 11 N/A-II A/C general secretary Khrievotsonuo Whuo and vice president Sevinuo Whuo said in a release today.
Stating that the youth organization has branded her a criminal indulging in “criminal activities” by distributing money in order to lure the voters, the release said on October 6, the BJP Mahila held a meeting in the Chiechama Village Council hall where the wife of the candidate after delivering a brief speech left in the middle of the meeting as she was not feeling well. “Therefore the question of her distributing money does not arise and the allegations made against her are totally false wrought with wrongful intentions to jeopardize the position of the I3JP Candidate of the Constituency,” it stated.
The BJP Mahila Mandal Committee also stated that this amounts to criminal defamation punishable under the IPC and wrongful inducement of the electorate under the Representation of the Peoples Act. “However, the people of the Constituency have now wised up to such political foul play and such malicious allegations will not succeed in influencing the right minded electorates of 11 N/A II A/C,” it added.
