National vice president of BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha, Johny G Rengma, has squarely blamed the negligence of the central government towards the tribal people of the country and attributed the present turmoil prevailing in Karbi Anglong, Assam, resulting in communal tension between the Rengma Naga and Karbi communities as one integral part of such indifferent attitude for the tribals.Describing tribal people as flowers of the country, Johny G Rengma rued that tribal people in the country have more problems than any other communities despite its unique cultural heritage. Without blaming any particular political party, he has attributed the such situation to the negligence of the government at the centre saying, ‘the Government of India is not so serious to deal with the tribal issues over the last many years.’
Addressing media persons this afternoon at Hotel Saramati, Johny G Rengma said BJP and its NDA alliance partners would focus to deal with all these issues to alleviate not only the economic condition but also create avenue for employment opportunities to the tribal people of the country.
Referring to history, Johny Rengma said the region was early known as Rengma Hills which later changed its nomenclature to Mikir Hills and subsequently to Karbi Anglong in 1977. Notwithstanding the change in nomenclature, he said that all the settlers are the bonafide citizens of the region. In this context, he has appealed to all the communities residing in the areas to ‘re-invent’ the quality of society of their ancestors who have maintained good neighbour since time immemorial.
Without any prejudice to all communities of the region including the Rengma Naga and Karbis, Johny Rengma has suggested his personal opinion to initiate a regional council for the Rengmas in Karbi Anglong.
Meanwhile, Johny Rengma has exuded confidence that BJP would certainly win in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and form a grand alliance government at the centre. He said the ensuing general elections would serve a surprise to the people of the country and the world as well.
He has described Narendra Modi as a clean and honest man and a secular political leader. He said Modi acceptability as future Prime Minister has evoked mass movement not only among the corporate houses, middle class and lowest strata of the society.
He alleged that India has been suffocated under the Congress led UPA government during the last nine years and added that the inflation, price rise and corruption during Congress regime has set a record in the history of Independent India. He, therefore, said the electorates of the country have decided to install a strong, stable and corruption free government which the people of the country primarily deserved. He also said Narendra Modi has become the tallest leader not only with BJP but also among other political parties in the country.
As part of the Look East Policy of the BJP, Johny G Rengma is scheduled to meet Myanmar counterpart under Mission Myanmar during January. He is scheduled to meet five Naga Myanmarese MPs on January 27 and 28 and also with other tribal MPs on January 29 and 30.
