DIMAPUR, JUNE 24 : Nagaland State BJP ST Morcha has appealed the central government to bifurcate the postal service system of the northeast region exactly like the bifurcation of the telecom service in the region by creating a new circle of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland some few years ago. This appeal was made by the national vice-president of BJP ST Morcha, Johnny Rengma at a news conference at Dimapur on Friday. Rengma’s reasoning was that this “arrangement” would result in spread of post offices in the region even where banking institutions were reluctant to venture into. And with the Core Banking linkage of post offices, which according to the union minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad was bigger than that of the State Bank of India, this would provide easy banking access to villagers in the region, he said. He also “appealed” the central government to establish BPOs in all the northeast states “to create employment opportunities for our educated youths.” The press conference was also attended by BJP legislator from 18 Howraghat constituency under Karbi Anglong district, Joyram Engleng. Rengma expressed “gratitude” to the voters of Assam for their “full support” that installed a “tribal chief minister for the first time in Assam.” I am quite confident that the tribal CM will look into the various problems faced by the tribal communities in Assam, he said. Joyram Engleng also “assured” that he will “restore the peaceful relations” between different communities residing in Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council areas.
