Dimapur, Dec. 21 (EMN): Seyochung Catholic Women Association (SCWA) has celebrated its silver jubilee on December 17 at St. Mary’s Church, Seyochung, where Bishop of Kohima Rev. Dr. James Thoppil graced the occasion as the main celebrant of the Holy Mass. President of Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) and main celebrant Ms. Angela blessed the jubilee memorial stone.
In his homily, Bishop James said “the gospel or Christianity in itself will not work any miracles in our live or change us, unless we live it in our lives.” He added that one’s baptism as catholic in itself is not an automatic passport to heaven.
He challenged the gathering to live their lives accordingly to the values of the Gospel, so as to make faith fruitful. He based this reflection on the letter of St. James, “faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead” (James 2:17).
He exhorted the women association to make the jubilee an occasion to resolve in rebuilding their lives on the strong foundation – Jesus Christ. He also called upon the women to embrace the future with hope.
After the Holy mass, the Eucharistic procession was organised as a sign of recommitment and expression of faith.
During the felicitation programme, Ms. Angela, president NCWA, called upon the women to be good mothers at home. She said as women of faith, mothers can contribute positively and negatively to the society. She also encouraged the Catholic mothers not to shy away to witness the great legacy of faith which is handed down by the pioneers.
Earlier Fr. Amos accorded the words of welcome. The event ended with the jubilee fellowship meal.
