DIMAPUR — Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, undertook a three-day pastoral visit to Kidima parish from June 10 and visited St. Francis Xavier, Kidima; St. Joseph, Kezo Basa; St. Mary, Kezoma; Good Shepherd, Kezoma Urban Station.
In his homily held at St. Francis Xavier in Kidima on Sunday, the bishop explained the meaning of Corpus Christi, which symbolises the body and blood, the word of God, Eucharist, prayer and fellowship. He added that Eucharist need to believe and have faith, stated an update from the church.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Rev. Thoppil also explained that a bishop is teacher, priest and leader. According to him, the bishop cape signify leadership, stick for authority in the church, ring for commitment, fidelity and love and red waist band for preparedness to fight for the church.
He asked in the faithful to have family prayer together stating that family is a domestic church and small society. He urged the parents to encourage their children to become nun and priest.
The bishop inspected the records of the parish on baptism, confirmation, marriage, funeral and chronicle of the parish and school. Bishop also advised to regularly conduct the first communion and confirmation services, arrange Sunday catechism classes in the centre and villages.
Holy Mass was offered in the churches followed with canonical inspection of convent. The parish council meeting was convened in the presbytery after the bishop’s visitation.
