Bishop of Kohima Diocese cautions against idolisation

Kohima, Sep. 11 (EMN): Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese, has urged the people to keep away from idolisation of not just images or statues but greed for wealth, addiction to gadgets etc., which are equal forms of idolatry.

Stating that the greatest temptation for the Israelites after being liberated from slavery was turning to idolatry, he cautioned against idolisation and strive towards deeper faith practices.

Thoppil stated this in his homily during the Eucharist celebrated at St. Dominic Church in Chiephobozou.

Couples for Christ Nagaland (CFCN) held its 8th anniversary and 6th Family Ministry anniversary on the theme “Heal the World for Christ” (2 Chronicles 7:14) on September 10 at Bishop Abraham Memorial Auditorium, Don Bosco School in Chiephobozou.

During the mass, anniversary greetings were extended by Rev. Fr. Patrick Nikhalo, Spiritual Director, CFCN while Neipe Sylvester, household head, CFCN and Rev. Fr. John Kavas, parish priest, St. Dominic Savio Church, Chiephobozou read the scripture.

The prayer of the faithful was led by Medo-o Matthew, Cluster Head, CFCN and Sarhünyi John, unit head, CFCN led the service as master of ceremony.

During the cultural programme, Kehouletuo Alexander, Buni Dominic, Zasi Stany Rume and Petekhriezo Francis shared their life experiences being in CFCN.

Fr. John Kavas delivered a message during the occasion while praise and worship was led by Kehouletuo Alexander, chapter head with CFC Rüsoma.

Special numbers were presented by CFC Rüsoma, CFC Thenyizumi, CFC Razeba, CFC Lazami and CFC Chiephobozou while praise was led  by state coordinator and couple coordinator CFC – SFC Nagaland, Petekhriezo Francis.
