Birth anniversary of Khelen Thokchom observed in Imphal

Imphal, Oct. 27 (EMN): The 59th birth anniversary of Khelen Thokchom, a well known journalist in Manipur, who passed away on April 1 last year was observed at the Manipur Press Club on Sunday.
The programme was organised by the Khelen Thokchom Trust.
Prof. MC Arun of Manipur University, President Bijoy Kakchingtabam of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union, President Khogendra Khondram of Editors Guild Manipur, Director H Balkrishna of Information and Public Relations department recounted the life and work of the departed journalist during the function.
On the occasion, two recipients namely Heikrujam Sadananda of Poknapham vernacular daily and ST Lelen Vaiphei of Imphal Free Press were felicitated with the first Khelen Thokchom Media Fellowship 2018-19.
A staff reporter Babie Sarin of Imphal Free Press was selected for 2nd Khelen Thokchom Media Fellowship 2019-20.
Former Director Rajkumar Dilip Singh of Communication and Capacity Development Unit and Public Health Engineering department delivered a talk on water.
A booklet called “Prospects of cricket in Manipur,” a compilation of reports by two media persons was also released during the function.
University teachers, officials, journalists, relatives, friends and well wishers of the departed journalist attended the programme.
