Bicycle rally marks oil conservation drive

Dimapur, Jan. 22: Commemorating the oil and gas conservation awareness drive, a bicycle rally was flagged off by Tovihoto Ayemi, MLA & Chairman, NIDC, on January 21 in which an approximate 80-90 cyclists participated in the stretch from ISBT Purana Bazar, Dimapur town, to 3rd Mile.

Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOP & NG) use to carry out a mass awareness drive on oil and gas conservation across the country every year which starts on January 16. From this year onwards, the theme of the programme has been redesigned as “Saksham – 2017” while the programme duration was also extended to one month.
Like all other states, the inauguration of this years’ programme in Nagaland was carried out in a small function on January 16.

The bicycle rally was flagged off in the presence of State level coordinator, MOP&NG DK Pathak; Senior DM/ Dimapur Depot of Indian Oil H Sema; and Sales Officer of Indian Oil Goutam Debnath amongst others including business communities and channel partners of Indian Oil.

Speaking on the occasion, Tovihoto Ayemi emphasised on the importance of fuel saving in the present global scenario.

Later, a walkathon programmes was also organised by many retail outlets in Dimapur such as M/s Chingjen Service Station, M/s DHB Oil City, M/s Dimapur Service Station etc where about 80 to 100 people had participated. All the programmes were held with the proactive support of Dimapur Police headed by the Commissioner Liremo Lotha.
