Bhandari administration hosts forum on teenage pregnancy

Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme, a seminar focusing on the issue of teenage pregnancies, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012, was conducted on September 26 in the town hall Bhandari in Wokha district. The programme was organised by the district administration.

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates on Thursday informing about the programme.

In his short speech, the additional deputy commissioner of Bhandari Tiameren Chang urged the students to rise up and transform our society, learn something good and do something good from today. He also appealed to the people not to use plastic and its effects on health and environment.

The deputy commandant of the 7th NAP at Bhandari Dr. Tiamenla Phom spoke about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012. The POCSO was enacted with a view to protect children from offences of sexual assault, sexually harassment and pornography. All the stated offences are punishable with imprisonment, which may extend to life sentence and fine.
