Benreu Baptist Church celebrates 125th anniversary
Kohima, Dec. 18 (EMN): Benreu Baptist Church (BBC) in Peren district celebrated 125 years of God’s faithfulness on December 17 and 18 on the theme ‘From blessings to glory.’
Rev. Dr. Wati Longchar, executive director (elect) of Foundation for Theological Education in Asia & Pacific, USA, spoke on concluding day of the celebration.
Stating that jubilee meant repentance, Rev. Wati said, “Without repentance, there is no jubilee, without forgiveness there is no jubilee, and without willingness to change the past mistake, there is no jubilee.”
He stated that the world suffers because “We do not have a heart of giving but a heart of selfishness.” He, therefore, called upon to have a heart of giving and sharing.
Rev. Kulungsing Meru, advisor of Benreului Baptist Union (BBU), dedicated the anniversary monolith and also dedicated the new church building. The dedication service was led by BBU secretary, Ihusing Liegise.
Rev. Izieteilung Terieng, executive secretary of Zeme Baptist Church Council (ZBCC), released the anniversary souvenir, while the Benreului Baptist Union (BBU) president, Rev. Kuzierang Thou, delivered the welcome address and BBU treasurer, Haisuing Haikam, led the Bible reading and prayer.
The closing worship service was led by Dr. Ipetlung Lungalang, assistant professor at Gossner Theological College, Ranchi.
Earlier, during the opening service on December 17, Rev. Dr. Visor H Zeliang, advisor BBU and president of Fellowship of Naga Baptist Associations in India, released a Bible after introduction was made by Bridge Connectivity Solutions.
The service was led by ZBCC mission secretary, Ramdeu Nsarangbe, while BBC pastor, Heikuhangbe Nsarangbe, delivered the welcome address.
