Dimapur/Kohima, June 5 (EMN): A special Shramik train carrying 1477 stranded Nagaland citizens arrived in Dimapur from Bengaluru on Friday afternoon. The Bangalore returnees are the largest group to return to Nagaland till date.
As per the new standard operating procedure, the returnees of other 10 districts were sent to their respective districts after necessary formalities were completed at Dimapur railway station.
Out of the 1501 Bangalore returnees, more than 50% were from Dimapur.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his family provided the meal for the returnees.
Bus accident in Zubza
A Nagaland State Transport bus ferrying the Bengaluru returnees from Dimapur to Kohima met with an accident at Zubza area on Friday evening, at around 6.30 pm.
This was confirmed to Eastern Mirror by the officer in-charge of Zubza police station. There were no casualties.
The officer informed that a goods truck, after ‘slipping on the muddy road due to rain earlier in the day’, hit the bus driver’s window.
None of the passengers were injured and the driver escaped with minor ‘splinter scratches’, it was informed.
A reliable source informed that the bus was carrying Tuensang-bound passengers. Another bus has been sent to ferry the passengers, it was informed.
