Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): Beisumpuiram village under Ahthibung sub-division in Peren district celebrated the village recognition on November 27 with the deputy commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, as the special guest.
The village was established on May 17, 2006, and was recognised by the state government on October 12, 2017. A DIPR report stated that former chief minister and present leader of opposition, TR Zeliang, declared the recognition of Beisumpuiram village during his tenure as the chief minister (2014 - 2017).
Speaking on the occasion, Aier lauded the village leaders for their tireless efforts and initiative from the start till the recognition of the village by the state government. He also encouraged the villagers to seek God's blessings in order to move forward towards development and progress.
Aier mentioned that all round development could be attained only by maintaining peace and tranquillity. He also encouraged them not to depend much on government schemes and government jobs but to adopt private entrepreneurship and become self-sufficient.
Aier further added that for a village to develop, healthcare and education sectors are important. He, therefore, urged the local people in the village to put more focus on healthcare and education sectors in the village.
A memorandum was submitted by Beisumpuiram village council to the deputy commissioner of Peren.
The village recognition monolith was inaugurated by the DC Peren, while the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by local pastor Akwabe.
Others who spoke in the programme included chairmen Old Beisumpui, Urangtalakpe, former chairman of Beisumpuiram Mbailang, SDO (C) Ahthibung Alemyapang Longchar, Zeme Council president Dr. Tumda Newme and ZSU (N) president, Aakam Pame.
