Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): The Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) has appealed to its members who are not in active service like retired doctors to be prepared as they could be asked to render their services anytime if the situation demands.

While lauding everyone in the medical fraternity for their contribution towards the challenge posed by the Covid-19 pandemic so far, the council stated through a press release that “to face this challenge, all members of the fraternity are called to commit themselves to face the situation and not shy away from the responsibilities”.

“In this context, it is reminded that the Medical Council of India Code of Ethics Chapter 5.2 states ‘When an epidemic occurs a physician should not abandon his duty for fear of contracting the disease himself’. Failure to comply with the Code of Ethics may invite disciplinary action,” read the press release.

“We wish you to follow the SOP guidelines and give your best to the noble humanitarian service,” it added.
