Ungma, Dec. 28 (EMN):
Minister of Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum on Monday evening urged the students to become an educated person rather than be a literate person saying that an educated person is knowledgeable, well-read and sophisticated in nature.

Ozukum stated this while addressing the students on the occasion of Soyim Shisaluyimer Telongjem (Soyim Students’ Union) platinum jubilee celebration at Babu Tzubo amphitheatre in Ungma village.

Ozukum urged the Soyim students to become educated people stating that an educated person has the same degree or certificate as the literate person.

He, however drew the difference between the two stating that an educated person is knowledgeable, well-read and learned and sophisticated in nature. He also urged that Soyim Shisaluyimer Telongjem to focus on human resources development apart from physical development.

Ozukum also urged the gathering to conserve the traditional values which according to him is the essence of their identity. He has also advocated education in order to promote the rich culture values of the forefathers.

The jubilee greetings were conveyed from the representatives of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang and Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang, Exhortation was said by the secretary of Ungma village council. The event also marked slam poetry competition in Ao dialect among the students.
