German football giants Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign England captain Harry Kane.
Nagaland observes National Deworming Day (Photo) Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): Dimapur and Wokha districts launched the second round of National Deworming Day (NDD) on Thursday. NDD is held twice a year in the country focusing on children through schools and Anganwadi centres. It is a public health initiative in India aimed at combating the problem of soil-transmitted helminths (STHs). The main aim of the day was to reach out to as many children as possible with a single dose of albendazole. The mass deworming of children from the age group of 1-19 years is planned on a fixed day strategy to reduce the harm of Soil Transmitte Helminths (STH). In Dimapur, the second round National Deworming Day was observed at GMS Model Village in 5th Mile, Dimapur. The programme was organised under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), Dimapur. Dr. Kadila, medical officer in-charge of RBSK, has sensitised the school children on the benefits of de-worming twice a year. She informed them on the harmful effects of STH as well. After a brief awareness talk, the school health team of Dimapur also conducted diseases screening and medical checkups to the children. It informed that the mop-up round to cover missed out children would be held on August 17. The second round of National Deworming Day in Wokha district was launched at Government Primary School (GPS) Chukitong. During the launch programme, Dr. Lirenthung Khuvung, medical officer of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK), Wokha mentioned that NDD is to make every child between the age group of 1 to 19 years worm free in the country. He added that worm infection in children could lead to anaemia, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. Dr. Khuvung informed that worm infection could be controlled by maintaining personal hygiene and keeping the surrounding clean. He also emphasised on following proper hand washing methods, washing fruits and vegetables before consumption and discouraging the practice of open defecation. He further informed that healthcare workers and Anganwadi workers would be distributing deworming tablets at various health units, schools and Anganwadi centres across the district. The RBSK team also conducted medical screening and administered tetanus injection to students of GPS Chukitong. The National Deworming Day (NDD) in Longleng district was held at Holy Cross School in Yongnyah village. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Banglau Phom, medical officer of CHC Yongnyah, has highlighted the significance of the de-worming program and the ill effects of intestinal worm infestations causing malnutrition and anemia which severely affect the physical and mental health of the growing children. He also gave an awareness talk on hygienic practices to reduce the spread of diseases and also demonstrated on hand washing to the students. Albendazole tablet was administered orally to each student present and a few tablets were handed to the school headmaster for mop-up day. The medical team was accompanied by one ANM, two ASHA along with the medical officer. DC Kohima asks officials to attend I-DAY programme Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, has issued a circular directing all head of offices stationed at Kohima headquarters and Gaon Buras within Kohima Sadar (urban and rural) to compulsorily participate in the upcoming 77th Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The event would take place at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza. The DC further informed all head of departments to collect invitation cards and car passes from the Establishment Branch beginning from August 12 during office hours. In another notification, DC Kohima has asked all head of offices, non-governmental organisations and other concerned parties within Kohima district to collect the national flags from the Development Branch of the DC’s office on August 11 and 12. The initiative was in alignment with the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaigns. Agriculture dept. organises millets recipe contest in Mon (Photo) Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): In line with the ‘International Year of Millets,’ the district agriculture office (DAO) in Mon organised a special event titled "Rediscovering millets in Nagaland: Eat millets-stay healthy, the future super food for India." A DIPR report stated that the event highlighted the significance of millet as more than just food by emphasising on its role as a combination of nutrition and health. As part of the programme, a millets recipe contest was conducted on August 10 at Mon Town Council hall. The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 70 women and members of self-help groups (SHG). The objective of the programme was to promote the usage of millet in cooking and to showcase its potential as a smart and nutritious food choice. It was also aimed at encouraging incorporation of millets into daily diets for improved health and nutrition. Keneisezo Punyu, DAO of Mon, delivered a speech on the importance of the ‘International Year of Millets.’ The competition was judged by head of offices from the Agriculture and Allied departments. The judges also engaged in interactive session with the participants by sharing insights and knowledge about millets. The participants' recipes were evaluated based on eight different parameters and winners were selected based on the judges' scores. The district agriculture officer of Mon gave away prizes to the winners. The event was chaired by agriculture officer of Mon, Daniel Konyak. LONDON — German football giants Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign England captain Harry Kane from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.

The deal is expected to be worth more than 100m euros (£86.4m), the BBC reported.

Kane has been the German champions’ leading target and they had several bids rejected before reaching an agreement.

The 30-year-old, who has one year left on his contract with Spurs, is eager for his future to be settled before Tottenham’s season-opening Premier League game at Brentford on Sunday.

The forward is Tottenham’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances. With 213 goals in 320 Premier League games, he is currently 48 goals off breaking Alan Shearer’s record as the highest-scorer in Premier League history.

Kane has won the Premier League Golden Boot three times — in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2020-21 — since making his debut for the club in 2012.

Yet England’s all-time leading scorer with 58 international goals, Kane has never won a major trophy with club or country.

Bayern, on the other hand, have won 11 Bundesliga titles in a row and have won the Champions League six times and German Cup on 20 occasions.
