Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): Bayavü area panchayat in Kohima undertook a mass social work on Saturday under the banner ‘Say no to Plastic’. The residents have cleaned drainages within the colony and roads connecting the Highways, which was organised under the patronage of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).
A statement issued by the panchayat has requested its residents to avoid use of single-use plastics, while also appealing to properly dispose them under unavoidable circumstances. The panchayat also requested the residents and visitors not to double park vehicles within the colony area. It also appealed to all car users to place contact numbers on the dashboard when parked along the colony road.
It further informed that the Bayavü area panchayat would be installing no parking signs along the roads in the colony soon. It stated that monetary penalty would be imposed against the defaulters.
