[caption id="attachment_258726" align="aligncenter" width="565"] The participants of Bayavü Inter Sector Mini Badminton Tourney with the organisers during the inaugural function on July 5.[/caption] Dimapur, July 5 (EMN): A two-day long 1st Bayavü Inter-Sector Mini Badminton Tourney organised by the Knight Shuttlers and Bayavü Youth Organisation commenced on Friday, July 5 at Vichü Society Badminton Stadium in Bayavü, Kohima. Held on the theme "Shuttle for oneness", the tournament is being sponsored by MLA of 10-Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency, Khriehu Liezietsu. Attending the inaugural session of the tourney, chairman of Bayavü Area Panchayat, Khinyi Woch expressed hope that through such sporting event oneness and unity can be upheld among the different sections of people within the colony and beyond. He said that sports are not only a form of leisure and relaxation but it can be a lucrative avenue for gaining respect and honour and also make self-sustainable earning. Nonetheless, he encouraged that one has to develop professionalism and specialisation in order to achieve the standards of state, national and international levels of competitions. Further, Woch also lauded the efforts of Knight Shuttlers and Bayavü Youth Organisation for creating a platform for the players of the colony to showcase their talent and target for greater heights. Three teams of the colony – Lower, Middle and Upper Bayavü are competing in Men’s and Women’s Single & Doubles and Mixed doubles. The two-day event will conclude tomorrow evening.
