  • Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited conducts training on modern technologies of horticulture

  • DIMAPUR — Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL), Nagaland, conducted training programme on various aspects of horticulture on April 16 and 17 at the Community Manage Training Centre (CMTC) in Jalukie town under Peren district.

  • The first day of training was held for Jalukie Farmers Producer Company Limited with 50 participants from Farmers Interest Groups (FIG) covering 6 villages and second day for Ahthibung Farmers Producer Company Limited with 50 participants from 5 villages.

  • The training programme began with registration of participants and introduction to the training by Aakam Pame, project manager of BKSL, while Izaile, horticulture inspector and resource person, spoke on crops planning of horticulture crops cultivation, crops selection, climate/ geography, market, resource availability, other production costs, pest and diseases susceptibility, companion planting and crops rotation.

  • She further stressed on agri-entrepreneurship, its importance, scope, government schemes and financial assistance for horticulture farming.

  • Sushienla L Longkumer, horticulture inspector from District Horticulture Office, Peren, was the second resource person. She focused on ‘good and agricultural practices (GAP), sustainable farming, post –harvest management and value addition, seeds and seedling selection, soil management, mulching, bio-fertiliser application, pest and disease management, farm dairy and value addition for self-sustainable livelihood activities.

  • The training was supported by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, Ministry of Horticulture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

  • The two-day training on ‘Modern technologies of horticulture’ concluded with words of appreciation to the resource persons and participant by Silas Pame, board chairman and Jalukie Farmers Producer Company Limited.
