Dimapur, June 24 (EMN): The Bank of Baroda opened its 13th branch in Nagaland on June 24 at Chumoukedima in Dimapur. Newly elected member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, inaugurated the new branch.
Addressing the inauguration, Longkumer spoke about the importance of banking. There is a need to educate the masses on its importance, he said.

‘Chumoukedima is slowly but steadily progressing into a commercial satellite township and with the 4-lane being constructed, it will only bring more business and services to the customers,’ he said.

Ashim Kumar Panda, general manager, Kolkata zone; Sonam T Bhutia, deputy general manager, Guwahati region; and Debasis Bakshi, assistant general manager, Jorhat were among those at the inauguration.

Longkumer lauded the bank for opening a new branch at said area and wished that the bank will continue to offer excellent services for the benefit of its clients and valued customers.

Bank official Ashim Kumar Panda spoke about the importance of Chumoukedima becoming a commercial centre. He declared that the new branch was one of the finest units in the state.

Debasis Bakshi informed the guests that after merger the Bank of Baroda stands to be the 2nd largest bank in India after the State Bank of India. With the new arrangement Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal will come under the Jorhat regional office. The other regional office is at Guwahati.

Chief Manager Nancy Zarzohlu of the Baroda Bank at Dimapur is said to have played an instrumental role in planning and surveying the location of the new branch.
