Dimapur, October 20 : The Amur Falcon Roosting Area Union has lifted its ban on government agencies, non-governmental organisations and tourists to the areas in Doyang, under Wokha district where migrating Amur falcons visit annually. The ‘Amur Falcons Roosting Area Union /Landowners’ informed to have met on October 2 to impose the ban, a press release from the group stated on Thursday. The protest was ‘for failure to reply the union’s demands on many occasion for infrastructure development under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme (SDS) for the year 2015-2016 from the Tourism Nagaland,’ the press release stated. Noting the Tourism department’s “partial reply,” the union met on October 17 and resolved that “the union partially accepted the government reply and temporarily suspended the resolution dated: 2nd Oct 2016, and started our protection activities thereof.” The organisation has welcomed tourists to witness the roosting Amur falcons. Visitors are to contact the union on “Amur falcon activities” at the contact numbers 08414953472 and 08414834044. ‘Overnight visitors’ may contact them for any assistance ‘and for pleasant stay’ as well.
