Diphu, June 30 (EMN): The Sand Mahaldar and Supplier’s Association (SMSA) has called for a ban on interstate supply of sand from Thursday (July 1).

This was informed in a press communiqué by its general secretary Roshan Timung here on Wednesday.

The press statement stated that, “the Sand Mahaldar and Supplier’s Association (SMSA) in its General Meeting held on 29 June 2021 in its own Office Manja, Karbi Anglong, resolved to ban interstate supply of sand with effect from 1 July 2021 onwards and until further notice, due to low rate of sand and other technical rectification”. Moreover, the statement also added, “with rapid rise in the rate of all commodities, the Mahaldar could no longer operate with the fluctuating ongoing rate of sand. Hence it has decided to stop all interstate supply of sand. SMSA requested all concerned to kindly cooperate with this call”.
